HI There !

My name is Mayuko, I’m an Interior Designer and the founder of Design Esteem in Oxnard, California. I would say that most of my life has been my interior design journey. Long story short, I am from Japan. I grew up in a really tiny apartment with my other three sisters and my parents. I was always thinking about how I can make that space more comfortable or how I could decorate it to show off my style. Also, I was a Grandma’s girl. My Grandmother was my favorite person in the world and she was living in an old traditional Japanese style one-story house that had a Japanese Garden. She kept and used many antiques, and she would also make Kimono dresses for herself and Grandpa. So, when I visited her place, I was always looking for something cool, it felt like a treasure hunter! I believe that my childhood experience is what made me pursue my career in interior design.
