Hi there!

My name is Mayuko, and I am an Interior Designer and the founder of Design Esteem in Southern California. Interior design has been my lifelong journey, shaping both my career and personal identity. I am originally from Japan, where I grew up in a small apartment with my parents and three sisters. Even as a child, I was constantly imagining how to make our space more comfortable and how to decorate it to reflect my style.

My greatest inspiration was my grandmother, who lived in a traditional Japanese one-story home with a beautiful garden. She cherished antiques and crafted her own Kimono dresses, filling her home with cultural richness and timeless beauty. Visiting her felt like treasure hunting, and those experiences deeply influenced my passion for design. Today, I draw on that heritage and global perspective to create interiors that blend tradition with modern aesthetics, telling personal stories through thoughtful, holistic design.
