Meet the Designer
My name is Mayuko, and I am an Interior Designer and the founder of Design Esteem in Ventura county, CA. I studied interior design in both Japan and the United States, and my work is shaped by a global perspective built through living and traveling in countries such as Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
These experiences deepened my appreciation for how different cultures shape the way people live, connect, and find comfort in their homes. They also taught me that true well‑being is essential to our quality of life, and that our wellness is deeply influenced by the spaces we inhabit. This understanding guides my design philosophy today.
A meaningful part of my perspective also comes from my personal experience caring for my favorite person, my grandmother, at home. Supporting her through daily life showed me how thoughtful design can bring ease, dignity, and emotional comfort, especially for those we love most.
My approach blends Japanese design principles, intentionality, simplicity, natural materials, and harmony, with modern functionality to create holistic, meaningful interiors. I focus on designing spaces that feel warm, grounded, and deeply connected to the people who live in them.
