Meet the Designer
My name is Mayuko, and I am an Interior Designer and the founder of Design Esteem in Southern California. Interior design has shaped my life from a young age, beginning in a small apartment in Japan where I constantly imagined how to make our shared space more comfortable and expressive.
My deepest inspiration came from my grandmother’s traditional Japanese home, a place filled with antiques, handcrafted kimonos, and a garden that reflected timeless beauty. Exploring her home felt like discovering hidden treasures, and those experiences continue to influence my design philosophy today.
I draw on this heritage and a global perspective to create interiors that blend tradition with modern living. My work focuses on thoughtful, holistic design that tells personal stories and makes every home feel warm, intentional, and deeply connected to the people who live in them.
